goodbye 2015

I grew up very career-driven and achievement-oriented. To me relationships
come and go, but personal achievements and career, these two go together.
Seeing and hearing of couples part ways after 3, 5, 10, or even more years
simply re-enforced the transient nature of relationships in my mind and that
I shouldn’t invest too heavily in something that wouldn’t last.  Not wanting to
be in a relationship for the sake of it, I always believe that there is a special
someone out there for everyone.  I felt I owed it to myself to give love a

serious stab because truth be told, I had been putting love on hold all my life.

Christmas Toyfair 2015

its been a few weeks since I last updated my blog, I have been busy and preoccupied
with work and some problems I needed to patch up at the shop.
by now, with the  worsening traffic conditions We may all feel the Christmas season
without the cold breeze of air. There is no religious holiday quite like it for the millions
everywhere who observe it. after all, we filipinos have the longest Christmas!

As shoppers pack stores, browsing for gifts they hope to buy at bargain-basement
prices. Soaring strains of “White Christmas,” “Silent Night” or “Rudolph, Reindeer”
resonate everywhere. Christmas trees with twinkling lights and bright, sparkling
ornaments create a mystical and glowing environment. Entire families want to
experience the special mystery that only comes with the Christmas season
and with this comes the 10th edition of the Christmas Toys and Collectibles
fair! and dont forget about RETRO TOYS!!

No stamp collectors month this yr

Last year I attended my very first Stamp Collecting month sponsored by Philpost
held last Nov 11, 2014, this year I was dissapointed that maybe because of APEC?
there is no stamp collecting month and no major exhibit and contest. why? maybe
because  there are only a few stamp collectors left.

I remember when I was in grade school, teachers promote stamp collecting as
a secondary hobby I wonder if Chinese teachers are still doing this now in our
Chinese schools? I guess not? Please,. correct me if am wrong.

The Good, the Bad, and the Sad of APEC

Its been said based on the media that the event will allow the Philippines to expand trade
interaction with APEC member countries, including a new free trade agreement with
Chile; consult with the US on joining the American-led Trans-Pacific Partnership,
free trade agreement, which has concluded its first phase of negotiations; and finalize
a major infrastructure deal with  Japan. There could also be discussions with China
on the Philippines' pending decision to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

A Chinese Funeral Tradition

Today is November 1, being Chinese, I thought of sharing what I believe and what
my grand mother, and aunties taught me about the other side of Chinese tradition.

Chinese funeral has several main traditions.   Buddhist ceremonies that last at least for 49 days.
the most important is that the first 7 days are believed to be made up of prayers 7 days a wk
49 days. for well to do families. If a family of the deceased is poor this period can be short,
lasting only 3 days.

Traditionally the daughters of the deceased pay the funeral costs. The head of the family
should at least be present at first prayer ceremony, if possible at second prayer ceremony
and certainly at the burial or cremation. Chinese also have a special Buddhist prayer
ceremony held every 10 days for 3 succeeding periods until the burial. then the optional
final ceremony 100 days after death.

Sosro fruit tea

Have you heard and tasted fruit juice? yeah I know you have even in your early childhood
during recess, and after play, but have you heard about the term fruit tea?  Maybe not.
Fruit tea is a liquid mixture with mixed essence of various fruits. it enlightens your mind
and give strength to your senses.
Last week, at the recently concluded  event  called Blogapalooza 2015 last Sunday,
Oct.25, I visited a booth and was treated to two bottles of SOSRO Fruit tea. and I have
tried it out while stuck in traffic, after a good jog, after wushu practice indeed a great way
to be refreshed and its available near our place(SM HYPERMART).

blogapalooza 2015

the biggest Business to Bloogger event is back again! (the 1st one I attended was
10-11-2014).
This year, Blogapalooza was scheduled on a Sunday, and its so happened that its my
brother's birthday(Oct. 25) I was surprised that  this year's venue is a much smaller one
compared to last years, but I had so much fun compared to last year. Meeting a lot a lot
of people and getting to know their services through friendly one on one interactions,
games( which I lost all the time) and raffles (I lost) is an awesome way to experience
getting connected.

It has been 2 days already but I won't let this passed by without sharing with you my
great experience on my 2nd Blogapalooza event. (I missed the first one held at Fully
booked) last Sunday, while missing someone badly,  (yes u knw who u are!)
I remember attending this yearly blogging event.

the week that was: TOYCON 2015

Its another year of toy hunting for collectors! Megatrade Halls 1-3 is the Venue
where toy geeks unite and converge, they will find the toys that they don't normally
see in big toy stores. inside, you'll get to see crowds that love toys, yes, big boys

who can afford toys as expensive as your Nike Apparel!  you'll see kids being trained
by their toy collector daddy on how to identify each old toy, others are into cosplay,
recreating huge action figures, or imitating their TV heroes, others just love to hunt
childhood toys when their parents couldn't buy them before, or when their childhood
toys gets destroyed during playtime, to sum up, This is just the place for You and me
to look around.

this year is our 2nd year to join this grand event as RETRO TOYS concentrating on
old nostalgic vintage toys from yesteryears.

its time for toycon 2015

born in 1973, am a child of the 80s…that most outrageous and colorful of all decades.
I repeat..ALL.

The excess and overindulgence of the 80s was unavoidable. It was reckless. And
it was soaked in neon hues. This was no more evident than in the fashion, pop stars,
movies and television of the time. and not to forget... the toys!

LAKAD PAMANA2015: San Miguel de Mayumo heritage tour

credits to Lito Ligon for the pictures

The tourism industry is unlike any other...mainly because  instead of a product, you
are selling a place and all the things it has to offer. You are competing with the entire
world every time you promote tourism in a given destination, and this high level of
competition demands a creative and unique approach.

Ride in Style With Great Motorcycle Audio

Ride in Style With Great Motorcycle Audio from TRAPIK AUDIO!

What better to accompany the sound of a motorcycle engine and the wind in your face
than incredible sound from your favorite RNB music from your favorite installer?
It’s all possible from the experts at TRAPIK AUDIO. look for the owner ,boss
Marlon? the man they called "bulag" and I wonder why?

Honestly I'm impressed with this place. the prices were competitive, but it's the service
that earned my respect. Marlon the owner is such a humble talended friend. upbeat and
polite. was greeted by an employee (kabayo) before I even entered (Trapik Audio).
He was lending a hand to another customer and took a second to explain, in tagalog...

the big one.

PHIVOLCS released on last week Tuesday the Valley Fault System Atlas, an 84MB file
which I downloaded.  its a detailed large-scale maps that illustrates the areas that are near
an earthquake  fault.

After this, traditional and social media  started warning people that the West Valley Fault
is now ripe. and a big earthquake may occur either in our lifetime or the next 50-100 years.

the 2015 transportshow

The longest running motor show  on its  24th year,  known to everybody as the Trans Sport Show
or Transhow, starts a day ago on  May 15 to 17 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
I usually attend the 2nd day, I went there after lunch, unlike last year, where the venue is much
bigger (SMX),  Ive observed that this year's show is not  as big as the past year, and MIAS and
PIMS are much bigger.  TransportShow is usually the last big autoshow that marks the end of
the summer vacation, a few weeks before classes open.

Escuella Talyer a lesson on restoration

The mystique of old churches and buildings and their bittersweet memories never
fails to captivate me. today, I joined AHP and Escuella Talyer's special talk and
tour of the Old Malate church.

the hidden Malabon Heritage

Known for its Rainy season floods, It’s almost a miracle how its beuatiful old houses
has survive through the years. The well preserved old houses by the descendants proves
that most of my kababayans in Malabon still value heritage above all.

remembering bataan

this blog should have been posted Yesterday, April 9, sorry for the late post.
our grandparents would remember April 9, as the Fall of Bataan, where close to
a Thousands soldiers died fighting for 4 months until they capitulated due to
lack of  food and critical war supplies on April 9, 1942.

then we all know the Bataan death march.... where 68K Filipino soldiers and 11K+
Americans who became the Japan’s prisoners of war were made to walk.
yesterday was the 73rd anniversary of the Fall of Bataan.

9th TAGCOM 2015

TAGCOM 2015 is a two day(s) event for all ages. They will have panels, many
vendors cosplayers, and much, much more. Come and support this shows 9th year.
I would remember that last year's TAGCOM  was our first attempt to join and its the
collectors first  time to see our booth named RETRO TOY COLLECTIONS.

It’s a small affair, but there are plenty of deals to be had.  There were a few more
vendors then there were last year, and about twice as many people in attendance.

I didn't want to get my hopes up just in case, but I know this year's event will be a
blast!

Just to remind you how awesome THE 9TH TAGCOM 2015 is check out some of
these pics from previous show last yr.
