looking back at the year that was...2017

The holiday tables have been cleared, and the gifts have been unwrapped.
Yet as we gather with family and friends to celebrate the end of one year
and the hopeful beginning of another, we don’t reflect on the items that
were given and received or the dishes served at dinner. as the first day of
the year begins. I would like to reflect on what happened the past year.

Armed Forces Celebrates 82nd Anniversary

Last Sunday I  was lucky enough to be invited to the 82nd anniversary of AFP
at The Fort. by my friend Jenny. I woke up early and traveled to
Herman's place so we could all be in one car. Because parking would be
very hard.. this is my first time to attend an anniversary of AFP in Fort Bonifacio.

a taste of Angats' fiesta

Bulacan has fast become an ideal tourist destination, its vital role in
Philippine history, and its rich heritage , its historical sites; grand old
houses ,churches and culture.... ecological & religious attractions; and
the colorful and enchanting festival. the fiestas. thanks sir Meng for
letting everyone of us experience the unique hospitality Happy Christmas
sir!

In the Philippines a fiesta is usually celebrated in barrios or barangays.
It is the official holiday of the LGU, the barangay. Filipinos love fiestas.
It is a time for joy and celebration. A fiesta is of Spanish origin and is
usually commemorated in association with a christian patron saint.

a Willy's Jeep with Meng's house in the background
after watching the fiesta, we visited a 300 yr old house of Meng's tito.
it is restored magically. hands down to the restoration work. the house
is a real beauty inside out.
sir Meng is really hospitable this is the first time friends from AHP joined and
celebrated a unique fiesta at Angat.

Foods, party, and thanksgiving! Pinoys are known for their hospitality and that day
we all experienced that. we were invited by neighbors people we just met for the
first time. invited to dine and party with them. this wont happen in Manila. as people
don't trust each other.

After we visited Meng's tito, we went straight home. I really enjoyed this gathering
with my AHP friends. and I know this will be the last time we all see each other for
this year. I will miss them. I wont be able to attend the Christmas party happening
the next day. well there is always next yr.

my blog ends here, next wk, will be the Christmas TOYCON. see you boys and
girls at Megatrade Dec 15-17.
this is your LOVERBOY Dennis signing out.

NEVER LET LOSE A STRAND OF YOUR PATIENCE

I have a high hairline, I got hereditary thinning. in
short,  I'm bald at my age. and this is how I looked like without my cap.
and that has always been my problem, aside from an incomplete teeth.
I've done my research. and there is  little doubt that there is much change in the
field of hair loss research.

postal walking tour. this will be his last advocacy tour for this yr.

Gumaca's Triumphs in Restoration

That face book group Titos of Manila has been so fun to read and participate
that I have missed writing and updating my blog for 2 wks. wow! so I need to
catch up. probably write a few more stories before the year ends...

one day, I  chatted with my friend Allan Martinez and he told me of a big
project in Gumaca wherein a museum will be built just around the area where
we had dinner with LAKAD PAMANA group last summer.
I told him, wow! this would be an interesting story to share. because at a young
age, he has made a name and had accomplished so much. I am proud of him..

AHP Cavite 2: Lakbay ng Supremo, A Hero's Journey

The life and death of Andres Bonifacio were filled with tragedy as well as mystery
Andres Bonifacio (1863-1897) a Philippine revolutionary leader / founder of the
Katipunan, was also a great admirer of  Rizal. He led the revolution in its early stages;
until 2 factions were formed within the group. Magdalo and  Magdiwang. and that is
the start of this tragic story in our history. and the start of part 2 of AHP's educational
photo-walking tour this time titled: "LAKBAY NG SUPREMO" A Heroe's journey.

Chinese cemetery revisited

Nov 1 is 2 wks away, and I know I will be absent and wont get the chance to
visit my maternal grand parents as cars wont be allowed inside.
and I might not be able to make it in time for Rence Chan's Spooktacular  tour.
so I was very lucky to be invited by my friend Rache to take a peek inside.
this time, to the R. Papa side. where the old tombs of the old Rich, and wealthy
businessmen's ancestors are located.... facing Rizal Ave.

car club culture: Parking boys

In the early days, Transportation in the Philippines is relatively underdeveloped,
partly due to the country's mountainous areas and scattered islands, and because
of the government's persistent under investment in the nation's infrastructure.
the first car association, the Philippine motor Association was established in
1931, which always campaigned for road safety.

moon cake mid autumn festival

The joyous clang of dice colliding with big bowls can often be heard around
the end of this month....enjoying the dice game or bo bing.(phua pia)

Bo Bing is a traditional gambling game involving six dice, a round bowl and of
course moon cakes. Its origins can be traced back to the great general Zheng
Chenggong. The game was created as a way to occupy his troops as they
waited during the mid-autumn festival before retaking Taiwan from foreign
occupation.

The Liebster Award – I’ve Been Nominated!

Hello friends. I’ve been nominated for a blogging award (for the first time) which
is quite popular in the blog world. The Liebster Award is one that recognizes and
discovers new bloggers. (like you and me)I’ve been nominated by the beautiful
blogger Naye Aaron Lubaton  whose blog you can find right here! The aim of this post
in particular is to let you learn a little bit more about me, THE LOVERBOY..
and to find out more about  the bloggers who I have nominated.

Ghost month once again

Its the first week of  August, and I haven't traveled much last few weeks
in a few more weeks ....its not because of the upcoming Month of Ghost.
August 22-Sept 19, which  in traditional Chinese practice, is not an auspicious
time to start a new business or make a new investment or join a new venture.
its also the month to avoid getting married (hahaha) or celebrating birthdays at night.
(weird eh? ) It is said that birthdays shouldn't  be celebrated at all!  also not a good
time to move to a new residence.

a place that her rider friends mentioned. a breathtaking place found in Orani,
Bataan at Brgy. Tala which is located on the slopes on Mt. Natib.

Novuhair encourages you to understand your hair

Other than your face, your hair is one of the first thing that other people
notices, this very reason is why most people take extra effort in caring for
their mane, but are you doing enough?

A hair salon is one of the usual places that a person would go to whenever
they need to have their hair fixed, this is typical if you just need a relief from
a bad hair day or to mend your split ends. What if your hair needs a more
extensive solution such as for your hair loss?

LOVE YOUR HAIR WITH NOVUHAIR

To give us much more reason to be carefree, we must be confident
on how we look and feel. Take time to take care of your appearance
and take extra attention to your hair. Hair is considered as our
crowning glory, hence, it is pertinent that we start with it.

Here are a few tips in maintaining a healthy hair.

dermcare

Channeling your beauty to radiate doesn’t come overnight, your skin requires
pampering and care of a professional center that understands your needs. A
center that provides all your skin pampering necessities has now come into full
bloom as it introduces its new look and logo.

novuhair salutes women

In celebration of International Women’s Month this March, Nutramedica Inc.,
encourages women to speak their mind and know their rights.
Be it in society or otherwise, women have excelled over the years, creating a
sense of socio-equality that every female across the globe shall be proud of.

This years’ theme is “Be bold for change”, a very subjective manner of
approach to the present era where women are called to lead and influence.
Novuhair calls for the same thrust.
Novuhair empowers the female population by improving their appearance thru
self-help ideas on social media. Channeling their self-esteem and confidence
to exude.
