Seventh generation (E52, E53, E54, E57, E64, E72, E77, E84, E88)
A new Galant debuted in 1992 (model year 1994 in America), available as a four-door sedan and five-door liftback (sedan only in America). A Japan-only hardtop derivative called the Jdm name Emeraude , a french word for emerald was also launched in 1992.
This generation marked a substantial change in suspension design. The front switched from struts to a multi-link structure featuring two lower arms and one upper arm. The rear switched from a beam axle to a newly designed multi-link system.
this 7th Gen galant is available here in the Philippines when I was studying in AMACC during my college days, the popular being the galant vr6 with 6a12 engine [v6 24v] manual tranny, and a much conservative 4g63A with automatic transmission.
other rare models are the viento, the original vr4 167 hp (125 kW) naturally aspirated 2.5 L 24-valve DOHC engine, which was mounted with four-wheel drive, 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel-steering. Body styles were 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback. Rear differential was not available with limited-slip. In option were sunroof, A/C, cruise control, power windows, central locking, electrical heated seats and electrical side-mirrors. a much rarer version is the seventh generation VR-4 chaning the old four-cylinder engine [of the supersaloon and PHDM vr4 ] in favour of a smoother two litre V6 twin turbo. 2.0 L V6 twin turbo 6A12 177kw . The four wheel drive transmission was retained.
rare models like the original vr4 (not sold here in PH) have 4wd sunroof, racing seats, 200hp stock for 7G body trims and almost 300hp stock for 8G body trims.
