Chinese New Year 2019
Hello hello its been a long time since I last written any blogs. Yes, I am affected
by the mass exodus of Bonifacio Market tenants, (yes, I am included with the
mass transfer because all of us are asked to leave before Valentines 2019) and
since I moved earlier than they expected, I am still adjusting to the new environment.
I thought this year's Chinese New Year festivities would be the different.
I went there New Years eve with friends, I was wrong. its the same... yes its colorful
but still the same decoration, the same costumes , the same items on sale, except
for the decoration on sale with their theme(piggy) for the year of the earth pig.
they are on sale for 20, 70, 100, and 750.00.
Same event(s) inside are observed inside Chinatown, the SheMale Ati atihan
performances, the longest dragon, cosplayers(?) yes, they are part of the
celebration in Chinatown, you can have selfies with them at a cost of 20.00-50.00
the main event is concentrated in Eng Bee Tin and Ramada Central Hotel.
my dear friends from AHP went there on the second day, while I took a rest
because of an incoming cold.
here is whats inside Lucky Chinatown. every year its the same decoration.
On New years eve, people flock to the new Eng Bee Tin bldg. where people buy
tikoy by the bundle! you could see cute lil piggies made into stuff toys selling for 1500
and and around Lucky China town mall. where there is a special Chinese new
year variety show, we went there with friends, to Macau Imperial for some
drink before we call it a day.
and after new years eve, you could see the Hungry Syrian Wanderer in Rence
Chan's Chinatown food tour (Special Chinese New Year Binondo Food Trip)lots
of food bloggers, photographers, bringing friends to cover the event. but when
you are a regular visitor of Chinatown for the past 6 yrs.... you know they are
all the same.
