because there were no known threat or competitors in the span of 10+ yrs.
Until there is a successful attempt to buy the whole lot where my LANSHOP is
standing. we are given til Feb 15, 2019 to vacate. but because the new location
where I am moving to demands we occupy it before Nov 30 or we will not be
given a slot.
with a heavy heart, I write this blog to inform my friends of my intent to close
down my more than 13 years LANSHOP business DEN-R INTERNET. located
at the lot where new commercial establishments and condo units will rise in
3 yrs time.
I am currently left with no other option than to wind up my business and
bring our more than a decade long tenant landlord relationship to an end.
As I am vacating ... kindly forgive me me for any ups and downs during these
years and keep in touch.
my new location will be at 16 Monserat St. Morning Breeze Subd.
the print shop will be moved to a space just across our old address.
very soon all establishment will meet the dreaded wrecking ball come summer
of next year.
this is DEN-R's last dance.
and the first day of moving out.
and the curtain goes down.
this is a short blog showing pictures of the actual moving out.
with a tearful feeling, I know I will miss these kids, in the days to come.
and it saddens me every time I think of it.
I now sign out for the last time this year. 2018 and bid this year with a
heavy heart. but I know I will be back soon with a new business
only at a new location, new friends, new customers. new beginning.
Confucius’ Birthday ( 孔子誕辰 ) falls on the 27th day of the eighth lunar month
of the Chinese calendar. It is officially celebrated on Taiwan as "Teachers' Day" on
September 28th, and in HK on the third Sunday of September as "Confucius Day",
to celebrate the efforts of today's teachers, and there is a legislative effort underway
to move that to September 28th. or the birth of Confucious.
Many countries with Confucian cultures hold commemorations each year, The birth
of Confucius is not a public holiday, but it is an official public holiday for workers
in Taiwan, known as Teachers’ Day.
The roots of this traditional ceremony can be found as far back in the time of the
Zhou Dynasty, and appeals to both foreign tourists and local people to this day.
Festivals are held to celebrate the birth of Confucius all across China, including at
his birthplace in Shandong Province. Among the many attendees of the ceremonies
at the Temple of Confucius in Qufu are scholars, notable people, and descendants
of Confucius.
here in the Philippines we celebrate this by a week long activity from Philpost called
letter writing month. and a stamp issue honoring the teacher.
in China, During the festival at the Qufu temple there are many activities and
entertainments, including musical performances and dancing from ancient times.
In the famous Yi Dance, the dancers wear clothes from the Song and Ming Dynasty,
with yellow silk robes, blue waistbands, and black hats. The ceremonial music,
played with traditional Chinese instruments, is known as “The Sound of Peace”.
The musicians wear the clothes of the Ming Dynasty, with red robes and black hats.
In addition to these performances, are calligraphy demonstrations and exhibitions,
with many people in traditional costumes. Tourists are welcome to attend and enter
the tombs of Confucius and his descendants, as well as explore his hometown and
the Confucius Temple.
The band Lynyrd Skynyrd took its name from a Terror teacher named Leonard

Today, Oct 5 the Philippines celebrates World Teachers’ Day with theme,
“My Teacher, My Hero.”
The venue of the celebration is at the (Ultra)in Pasig City where hundreds of
Filipino teachers are expected to attend to show their participation in the
worldwide celebration. The WTD has been celebrated every October 5 as declared
by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
in 1994. The celebration focuses on the nobility of the profession itself and promotes
international standards for the teaching profession. This year’s theme is
“Teachers for Gender Equality.”
Happy Teachers day, this is your LOVERBOY Dennis signing off
its September and its the dawning of the Hungry Ghost month. I went
to Sanctuarium and saw these....
Took these pictures a while ago. These are placed just outside the chapel..
The Chinese believe that it’s unlucky to arrive in the afterlife empty-handed or
indebted. Consequently, burning joss paper is an essential part of Chinese
funeral customs. Funeral offerings can be elaborate and typically include joss
paper squares, lots of currency and household necessities like clothing,
electronics and jewelry.
Today is the Hungry Ghost month.
yes, its the Chinese Festival of the dead.
it would be memorable for me every year. this Ghost month.
I lost Dad, a few days before the end of Ghost month 2017.
and a day after today? August 26. is my dad's birthday. he had stroke
on his birthday and remained on his death bead until Sept 3.
back then, I believed that he was taken by the hungry ghost from us.
拜拜 on 鬼月?
In Chinese folk religion, we believe that there is a strong connection between
this life on earth and the afterlife. They believe that is it the duty of children
(especially sons) to care for their ancestors after the ancestors have died. It is
also the belief of the people that if ancestors are not properly buried or cared
for after death (given food, offered money, etc.) they will become wandering,
hungry ghosts. During “ghost month,” (like today) the Chinese people give
abundant offerings to satisfy not only their own ancestors but also all of the
hungry ghosts that have been un-cared for throughout the year. By offering
these sacrifices, Chinese people believe they are protecting themselves from
being haunted or bothered by the hungry ghosts.
its a time when the spiritual darkness of those who believe is made visibly
evident through the burnt offerings and sacrifices that are offered to the
ancestors and gods.
Not every Chinese person actually believes 100% that these postmortem
rituals make a difference, but many people have a ‘do it just in case it’s true’
sort of mentality
Many of us are afraid that if they don’t worship their ancestors, the ancestors’
ghosts will make their lives miserable. Who would want to risk that?
Pray with me that the Chinese people’s eyes will be open to the emptiness of
their ancestor worship and that they will come to know and worship the one
true GOD.

how mail was sorted and distributed before it was delivered to
our doorstep. all worth the 12.00 per stamp.
after which we were all bought to the future venue of the stamp
museum.
we listened to the stamp talk by Rey and Dojie about the joys of philately.
at the end of the stamp talk, kids and new collectors got a chance to
bring home their first stamps, from prof. Igue Dela Fuente.
for collectors who asked questions during the tour, they are also given stamps
thanks to maam Zenaida, maam Arlene, maam Perla.
by Rey Ong. the pure simple joy we feel when collecting.
The process of searching, locating and at times,,,buying stamps from auction.
common stamps, new stamps, old stamps, rare stamps, or any other types of stamps which are needed in order to complete a specific type of stamp collection gives the stamp collector a sense of pride, success and accomplishment.
here is also a video of one of the 80 frames exhibited
just the simple and pure fun of the hunt yes, its similar to treasure hunting, and the moment of actually finding and successfully acquiring a particular stamp is a good enough reason to collect stamps.
here is a talk by Dionisio Taeza
Stamp collectors enjoy the moment when they get praised by family, teachers, friends, and other fellow collectors regarding their collections at stamp exhibits.
the feeling of joy every time someone makes a positive feedback about your stamps on facebook!
we all know that feeling as stamp collectors
because back then, we were exposed at an early age, either by our old folks, our teachers, and supported by schools
lots of materials at affordable prices (for kids) back then. lots of stamp shops everywhere,,,,
NOW, here is the big challenge for all of us...
1 HOW DO WE REINTRODUCE THIS TO KIDS?
yes, that includes your kids.( I still dont have one e,,,)
how?
and how do we maintain this love for stamps once the kids are introduced?
2. HOW DO WE INTRODUCE THIS HOBBY TO SCHOOLS?
3. HOW DO WE BUILD A STAMP CLUB in our local community?
efforts have been made for the past decade to bring back this
hobby and reintroduce to kids. we are getting closer.
We need to have more activities like this, with kids as our audience.
and PHILPOST, and our dealer friends as their sponsors. with this, we can
have activities like distribution of more sponsored stamp starter packs,
WORKSHOPS for children interested in developing their competition entries.
a stamp competition for kids, where they display their progress, their topical
collection,
AWARDS for the young collector of the year and to enthusiastic organizers
for outstanding service to youth philately.
In 3 more years the Philippines will celebrate 500 yrs of the founding
in 1521 , and there will be a grand celebration. I wish by then there will
be more young stamp collectors than young gadget loving kids.
