In partnership with the Quezon City government, the Philippine Horticultural
Society hosted HortiKultura Filipina 2018 in the open grounds of the Quezon
Memorial Circle which started Feb 2, (opening) and will proceed until the 11th.
Aiming to promote gardening knowledge to hobbyist , and horticultural practices
to growers and enthusiast, this grand gardening festival exhibits some of the our
country's Endemic(found here in the Philippines), Indigenous(Asian region), &
Native plants. (Philippine hybrid of both types.)
Hortikultura Filipina is the most celebrated event in the Philippines held annually,
together with its partners as the largest, most prestigious horticultural event
at QCMC. this time, its bigger this year occupying 6 hectares of space around
the circle to reach a wider audience. its targetting to make the Philippines the
most diverse horticultural centers in Asia that can be compared with
Thailand or Vietnam.
for me the highlight of the first day is always the walking tour of Lawrence
Chan(#walkwithchan). he conducts free guided tours on the first day of this
annual grand garden show held at QCMC, only bigger this year! so the tour
is much longer!
this year I attended the walking tour of Lawrence Chan together with blogger
friends we met at Max restaurant and proceeded with going around each garden.
plants and arts fest is introduced here at the event. to show that plants go all
together with our lifestyle. we put ornamental plants inside our home. as part
of the decoration in our living room.
this is our first stop. the registration. we get our IDs and then Rence bought us
to the guided tour of the plants the tour started early at around 830am, up to
late lunchtime, we did not go to the usual Quezon house, Rence skipped the
heritage tour because we lack time, this year the exhibit areas are much bigger
instead of just one area there are 3 more additional gardens making this year
the biggest with 6 hectares of open space for hobbyist, sellers, exhibitors.
for this year, the plan of transforming the QC Circle grounds to a huge floral garden is a
big success, a big portion of the walkway between the Flower Garden and the Tropical
Garden where the event Hortikultura is held annually. Allied Botanical provided the
flowering plants and technical expertise so that we, the attendees of the garden
show will be able to realize that the many flowering plants could be grown in urban
Manila.
while walking around , me and Amy saw some air conditioned tents in the center.
we we thought they are areas where visitors will have lunch. hahaha,
later I found out that its a new feature of the annual garden show.
the participation of the DTI put up air-conditioned tents where the seminars
and workshops on various horticultural topics are held.
it also serves as the display area where small and medium enterprises can display
and sell their products. ok here are some pictures and videos of the actual tour
so people who failed to attend the tour can appreciate the event.
here are the videos of the actual tour
here are the exhibits and the winners of the bonsai competition
we then proceeded to the tropical garden where more beautiful flowers awaits us
and we continued our walking tour around . oh by the way
dont forget to visit the Six inch lounges (pics by Tiffany Cham)
The SixInch Philippines Snake Seat for the Outdoors is just P426,000
SixInch Philippines is a subsidiary company of URATEX.
we had a short rest here.
Hotrikultura 2018 also featured corporate landscape competition,
table plant (ornamentals) competition, ornamental dish garden competition,
Hoya arts exhibit, edible food landscape competition, vertical landscape
competition and others. as seen in these videos.
you know, Horti is not just plant arrangement. it is an art, a Science that
enhances living spaces for health and well-being. yes, health. because
loving plants and gardening always gives us positive thoughts. and eliminate
daily life and work related stress.
my favorite is the intramuros bonsai tree!
more pictures
the Terrarium, Aquascape and Vivarium Tanks exhibit being coordinated by
Tiffany Cham are held at the QCX museum. including the poisonous frogs.
Antique like the ones in the picture below are available on display and for sale

heres an interview of Maam Audrey B. Cabato.
we then proceeded to QCX museum, inside you will see the flower arrangement
competition (professional and amateur categories), art exhibit by Allan Sycip,
Orchid aseptic culture exhibit, and photo exhibit of Philippine orchid species
by Dr. Miguel de Leon.
this is the poisonous frog am talking about.
so come visit QC circle now, until Feb 11, 2018, but the earlier the better since
the flowers may last until Feb 9 or 10 only afterwards, the flowers in the exhibit
may start to wither.
I want to thank sir Efren Chatto of King Louis Plants for the give aways
awarded to me and to all my bloggers friends. thanks for the organizers and PHS
(Philippine Horticulture Society) and to the pretty madam Camille Bernabe.
if you love plants as much as I do, be a member of PHS. The membership of the society
include hobbyists (like me) as well as commercial operators of nurseries and plant shops
around the country.
PHs conducts a monthly meeting whereby a resource speaker is invited to talk on a
timely topic.
The annual garden show is a major project of the P.H.S. It is where the members as
well as invited non-members of the society participate in putting up their exhibit
booths to showcase their outstanding plants. this yr is P.H.S. 42nd year.
The garden show has a commercial section where members and non-members
offer their products for sale to the public. (much like the annual TOYCON ). It is where
the plant flower, and the gardening public can source out our gardening supplies
like our favorite cactus plants, fertilizers, crop protection products and many more!
and this is your LOVERBOY Dennis signing out.
