Selyong Pamana stamp exhibit

It was my first time to attend a stamp show through ASEANPEX, and my favorite
part of the show turned out to be the HUGE exhibit of Thematic Displays that were
shown by individuals. Using stamps, letters, and photos these displays told different
stories from every corner of the world.
and now...............
am happy to announce another stamp exhibit happening this May 21!

I love Philippine history, and this hobby called philately really helped a lot.
Stamp collecting is an amazing gateway to studying history.

I have been a philatelist all my life, but the postal heritage tour of Lawrence Chan
has deepened my interest and "leveled-up" this hobby to a much
serious level.

I think most stamp collectors have collector personalities. Stamps are particularly
easy and interesting to collect. Stamps can be collected by the thousands, for very
little money. They are interesting on many levels. They are easy to store and enjoy.

So philately, can be as expensive or as cheap as you like it to be you can get
it from friends, from collectors, or from envelopes that comes off the letter
or you can invest tens of thousands for some of the philatelic rarity.

stamp collecting can get very expensive, it can also be very, very affordable.
in every stamp auction I attended, I saw people culling through hundreds of stamps
that were being sold for 50 pesos. but they were nonetheless beautiful artifacts, and
for the design and typography lover, an amazing source of inspiration.

Collecting stamps and learning postal history is common and can be most enjoyable
there are exciting occasions when a search through your friendly dealers’ general
stocks reveals a relevant item for your theme. sometimes for under P300.00 you may
get home with some "first day covers" (envelopes containing newly released stamps),
old letters, and even some unused stamps that will satisfy your new addiction.

and there is nothing stopping you going further and adding other non-postal material
to compliment the stamps in your hobby. what matters most is you are happy.

because one of the appeals of any sort of collecting is being in control and making
your collection exactly how you want it. There are no rules and so nothing to stop
you adding non-stamp items.

we now spend more than 8 hours in front of the screen be it LED screens from
your office or AMOLED from your gadgets.I do not think we are going to reduce
that amount of time, but there are healthier ways to spend time away from the screen
and these activities by philatelist will help.

on May 20 there will be an auction open to the public by Filipinas Stamp Collectors
club after lunch. and on May 21 the day itself the non competitive exhibit  will be
held at PHILPOST.
Attending collectors will be treated to a bourse featuring dealers like Al and Jimmy,
they will help you with completing your collection. they have stocks  containing a
variety of stamps, coins, currency, postcards, covers, souvenir cards, lots and
collections from the different parts of the world. Collecting supplies may also be
available. there is also seminar and stamp talks. and here, you would see the area
where the new postal museum will be housed.

there is also a Royal Postal Heritage tour of Lawrence Chan this May 26, 2018
freebies stamps will be given away.

Admission and parking will be free.

See you there!

this is your LOVERBOY Dennis signing out
