For many years, postal stamps have always been a significant part of
Philippine history. In spite of the advent of electronic mail and text messaging
systems on telecommunication networks, stamps remain a relevant tool for historical
and communications purposes.
I believe history Students, should become philatelist or philately must be
included in our Philippine history for students so that when they graduate they can
trace the beginnings of the Philippine postal system, its foundation and historical
development of the postal service. from the transitions of postal services during
the Spanish colonial period. to the first Republic stamps.
they must understand and know the political imagery of Philippine postage stamps
during the Spanish colonization period , From the time when the first stamps were
introduced in 1854 until the last issue of 1898.
but its the other way around, students know nothing about stamps, they know more
about the latest social media trending stories than stamps. sad to say..
for now, at least we have the Stamp Collecting month. not as good as what they
have in the States, but at least...
we have one...
just last Monday(November 10, 2018 ) I attended the National Stamp Collecting
month and here are the highlights
a Tour of the post office
